Recent spikes in the spread of COVID in India has created additional hardships for our Ainiti families. We are optimistic that we will be able to get back in the classroom to continue educating and empowering girls soon. While it is not yet safe to do so, our team has been working hard to come up with new ways to support young girls in the community. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately:

While our mission is to educate and empower girls in underprivileged areas, we cannot make an impact without first addressing the most basic needs. During the winter, many of the Ainiti girls find themselves without proper shelter and warmth. We provided our students with blankets during the cold winter season. The blankets provided warmth and comfort, helping us on our mission to help young girls in the community.

Providing Shelter During Monsoon Season |
|
|
Monsoon season in India can be devastating for our students without proper shelter and supplies. Homelessness increases every year during the rainy season, adding to the hardships that many families face. The Ainiti team distributed tarps and umbrellas to the girls and their families to provide shelter and support to those in need. |

Helping a Local Tea Business Stay Afloat |

While distributing supplies to Ainiti families, our team was able to help a woman continue maintaining her tea business during monsoon season. The woman’s granddaughter studies at Ainiti. Prior to the covid lockdowns, she worked as a maid to support her family. The lockdown caused her to pivot into starting her own tea business. She sells snacks and tea at a stall near the Ainiti school. Her stall was at risk of being damaged due to the heavy rains and winds that occur during monsoon season. Our team helped improve the stability of her stall by putting up tarps around her current place of business. We hope that the assistance that we provided will help her run her business and continue to support her family during the rainy season.
